Card Recon Consultant Edition – 3 month trial license for all QSAs

Throughout 2008 and 2009 a small sample of QSAs participated in an industry consultation process to improve the capabilities offered by Card Recon for the PCI DSS industry. This initiative has resulted in numerous improvements and new features being added.

We also received feedback asking for a version of Card Recon to be created for QSA use within PCI on-site reviews to validate client PAN storage practices. Having listened to this advise we have announced the release of Card Recon Consultant Edition available exclusively for the PCI QSA community.

To compliment the release of Card Recon Consultant Edition, we have introduced a 3 month trial program for QSAs to road test Card Recon and experience the benefits that it offers.

The Consultant edition of Card Recon can be run on any Windows or Linux host from a portable memory device and is ideal for:

  • QSA supervised audits of client systems that are deemed as in-scope
  • QSA supervised audits of client systems deemed out-of-scope
  • QSA supervised scans of client development and test systems
  • Scanning of structured and unstructured client data samples (Database exports, Log file samples, Document samples, Email Backups)

There are situations where the Consultant Edition may not be used including:

  • Any scanning scenario where the QSA is not supervising the scan
  • Providing a copy the Consultant Edition to clients
  • Distribution of any kind (including to other QSAs)
  • Incorporating Card Recon as part of a broader technical solution

QSAs wishing to participate and receive a 3 month license of Card Recon Consultant Edition are required to submit a request via our contact form:

Please ensure your request includes:

  • Your organisation name
  • Postal address and telephone number
  • Name of your lead QSA and email address
  • Name and email of each QSA in your organisation wishing to receive a Card Recon Consultant Edition trial license

Upon submission of your application we will verify your QSA status via the PCI SSC website. Once verified an email will be sent to each of the QSAs listed with log in credentials to download Card Recon Consultant Edition.
