The 2023 Asia Pacific Community Meeting, hosted by the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 14–15, 2023. Participants from across the payments industry came together to share their insights and best practices on payment security and compliance.

The event showcased a variety of keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions and networking opportunities. Our highlights included:

  • A presentation by Ciske Van Oosten, Head of Global Business Intelligence at Verizon, sharing the latest findings from the 2023 Payment Security Report. He talked about the trends and challenges in payment security, and how organizations can enhance their security posture and resilience.

  • A session by Stephen Cavey, Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist of Ground Labs, who presented his talk, “Evidence-Based Scoping in the Zettabyte Era.” He explained how data discovery tools can be used to identify and secure sensitive data across complex and distributed environments, and how to reduce the scope and cost of PCI DSS compliance.

  • A panel discussion on “How to Implement PCI DSS v4.0,” led by Emma Sutcliffe, SVP of Standards at the PCI SSC. The panel provided an overview of the major changes in the latest version of the standard and discussed how organizations should prepare their transition ahead of the retirement of PCI DSS v3.2.1 in March 2024.
